Verizon launching 4G LTE on December 5th in USA, upto 12Mbps Download speeds

Verizon has officially announced today that they will be launching the Long Term Evolution (LTE) in USA on December 5th, covering 38 cities and 60 airports. Verizon promised that LTE will be available all over the USA by 2013. Verizon is also launching some devices on December 5th, but unfortunately it’s not a phone. Upon launch, Verizon will launch two USB data-sticks, LG VL600 and Pantech UML290. Users will be able to get USB data-sticks for $99 with 2-year contract and $50 mail-in-rebate. Verizon is offering two types of data plans. Have a look:

$50 monthly plan with a 5GB data allowance $80 monthly plan with a 10GB monthly allowance

If you cross your data allowance limit, then Verizon will charge you $10 per gigabyte. If we talk about speed, then you will get 5 to 12Mbps on the downlink and 2 to 5 Mbps on the uplink. Verizon has announced that they will launch LTE-enable devices during the CES 2011, so hopefully we will see the HTC Merge and LG LTE phone there. Have a look on the Press Release after the break, and if you want to know more then check Verizon LTE page.
