Foursquare has updated their Android and iPhone apps that brings new Explore feature with cleaner design and offers improved search results. The Foursquare for iPhone has been updated to version 4.2 that also brings improved handling of duplicate venues. The Foursquare for Android gets support for Android Beam that lets you send Venues, Lists and your profile to other Android (Requires Android 4.0 with NFC support) users.

The new Explore features include, option to change your location so that you can explore using the map in your city or find an address, filter option enables you to narrow your results by places you and your friends have been, and photos in your search results.

Nokia Beta Labs has launched a new experimental app, Nokia 3D World Gaze for Symbian^3 devices. This app lets you explore the planet by viewing the places along with the images, wiki pages of popular places. This uses the compass in the phone so that you could view the places just by rotating the phone.

View the places by rotating the phone or use the touch screen to navigate to places or search for placesLock or unlock the auto turning mode using the lock iconToggle between the birds eye view, that also shows you day and night regions and see through viewView the city names, images, Wikinews and Wikipedia articles about the place in the mapZoom using the volume keysEnable or disable clouds from the settings

You need to calibrate the compass while using the app for the first time for the auto turning mode to work. This app needs an internet connection to function and the data used could be viewed from the about menu in the app.
