Foursquare for Android gets NFC support
Foursquare has updated its Android support to include support for NFC features included in Android 4.0. The popular location sharing app lets users check into a location by simply tapping their devices against a tag at a compatible location.

The updated app lets users exchange lists and add friends via NFC Beam which is a special feature of Ice Cream Sandwich. While the new features are only supported on the Galaxy Nexus and Nexus S at the moment , the list of devices is expected to increase as more phone running Android 4.0 and supporting NFC are released.

Foursquare for Android and iPhone gets new Explore features, Android app gets NFC Beam support

Foursquare has updated their Android and iPhone apps that brings new Explore feature with cleaner design and offers improved search results. The Foursquare for iPhone has been updated to version 4.2 that also brings improved handling of duplicate venues. The Foursquare for Android gets support for Android Beam that lets you send Venues, Lists and your profile to other Android (Requires Android 4.0 with NFC support) users.
The new Explore features include, option to change your location so that you can explore using the map in your city or find an address, filter option enables you to narrow your results by places you and your friends have been, and photos in your search results.

Foursquare for BlackBerry update brings Events, Check-in detail screen and more

Foursquare for BlackBerry has been updated to version 3.4.1 that brings lots of new features. The new Event tab lets you check-in to specific events and you can also view details like movie times and summaries. The Check-in details screen lets you view other’s points or badges, photos you took, and add comments inline.

Foursquare for Android gets Notification tray and redesigned settings

The latest update (2011.07.05) for Foursquare for Android brings new notification tray that lets the users keep track of friend’s check-in, comments, tips, badges etc. This update also brings new settings that is redesigned to enable or disable the notifications similar to the Foursquare web application.
New features in the latest version of Foursquare for Android
Access the new notification tray from the top header bar to view comments on your check-ins and photos, Facebook friends joins foursquare, when you earn extra points etc.Change the notification settings from the notification tray header.Mute the notifications for an hour or until the next day morning.Enable or disable the app or e-mail notifications from the settings.Some of these notifications are only available on the app and not sent as e-mail. The notifications are also available on the Foursquare website and coming to iPhone and BlackBerry phones soon.

INQ Mobile To Launch Foursquare Centric Device
We had previously told you about INQ’s plans to bring out a device with Facebook as its primary focus. Well it looks like the company decided to expand on the social experience of the phone by adding in native Foursquare integration. The phone will have Foursquare check-ins as an integral part of the OS.
