Adobe stopping development on Flash Player for mobile browsers
If you are big fan of Adobe Flash Player on your Android phone or BlackBerry Playbook , bad news ! Adobe has announced that it is stopping development of Flash Player for mobile browsers and mobile devices. It will however provide critical bug fixes and security updates. This info comes from ZDNET who got early access to this announcement from Adobe. Looks like Adobe is increasing investment in HTML5 and shying away from Flash player on the mobile browser.
Here is the statement from Adobe
Our future work with Flash on mobile devices will be focused on enabling Flash developers to package native apps with Adobe AIR for all the major app stores. We will no longer adapt Flash Player for mobile devices to new browser, OS version or device configurations. Some of our source code licensees may opt to continue working on and releasing their own implementations. We will continue to support the current Android and PlayBook configurations with critical bug fixes and security updates.
Most Android phones and tablets have been boasting about flash player functionality as a big feature over other products in the market. Last year, Steve Jobs posted a long explanation about Why flash is banned on the iPhone and now Adobe’s decision to abort development of flash player on mobile pretty much goes in line with Steve’s explanation. Bad news for device makers who have been betting on Flash .

Samsung uses iPhone Maps Screenshot For Galaxy Player 50 Graphic
On its webpage for the Galaxy Player 50, it seems as though Samsung has ripped off the iPhone’s Maps app, modifying a screenshot more or less for use in a web graphic of the 50. Take a look – here’s the original screenshot vs. Samsung’s image:
However blurry the intention, we presume this was no error. The slip – the red pushpins. It is also farfetched that the screengrab would randomly be flung into the web graphic due to laziness, when it is evident that it has been ripped from an app that featured on an Apple device, Apple- the consumer tech giant whom Samsung has been so infamously competing with in the recent past.
It seems pretty immature, it does not look good for Samsung’s image in the current situation, even if the designers had a laugh at the ripped off screen.
