Updated Netflix app now supports Honeycomb Tablets

Want Netflix running on your Honeycomb tablet?

Have you been waiting for the ‘official’ support?

It’s available, accessible and ready to download in the Android Market.

Rejoice all you Honeycomb Tablet owners, as Netflix (the movie streaming service) has befittingly dropped an app that would support your tablets. But don’t get all excited as “Honeycomb Support” is comparatively different than “Honeycomb optimized”.  Now the Netflix app that has ‘unofficially’ exerted itself to almost every device and has been in existence for a very long time, every couple of months it releases and ‘official’ app to ceremoniously support the equipment. Although the features are dissatisfying and poor in quality, it is accessible to the Android Honeycomb Devices.  It has been proclaimed that the latest update does doubtlessly work on the Honeycomb devices, nevertheless, it is far from being god-sent (well, it is man-made).  Netflix 1.5.0 augments Android support to Latin America and Canada. For the first time and supports alternate sound, inscription and headings, along with Honeycomb support.

You can download the application from Android market by clicking on this link

Android Honeycomb Might Require Dual Core Processors

More than 40 tablets are expected to launch this week at the CES. Most of the tablets will be powered by the Google’s upcoming operating System, the Android Honeycomb. The only tablets that caught our attention are the Motorola Droid Xoom and Toshiba’s upcoming tablet with Nvidia’s Tegra 2 dual core processor. According to the rumors, Android Honeycomb will not only require a high resolution display with minimum requirement up to 1280 x 720 pixels resolution, but it will also require a dual core processor. This is definitely a good news for those who are planning to buy Android tablets in the coming months.

Bobby Cha, Managing Director of Enspert, recently said to PC Magazine that, Enspert is currently working on tablets running FroYo, Honeycomb as well as Gingerbread. Android Honeycomb will require a dual-core ARM Cortex-A9 processor to “run properly”. There is no restriction on the screen size, since Honeycomb can work on 7 inch tablets as well as 10 inch tablets with a minimum resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels.

If the rumors are true, then it will be a good news for most of us, who are planning to buy Android powered tablets, but it can be a bad news for one million Galaxy Tab owners and also for the buyers of other Android tablets. Galaxy Tab owners will not be able to update their OS to Honeycomb, and they might forever stuck with the Gingerbread OS. Bobby Cha also said that, Honeycomb will be shipped to manufacturers towards the end of January.

Honeycomb due for March 2011?

A few days ago, we saw Andy Rubin playing with a Motorola tablet, and the tablet was running Honeycomb, which is an upcoming version of Android, and it’s especially designed for tablets. Andy Rubin didn’t reveal any further information about the OS, but now DigiTimes is saying that Honeycomb will be launching in March next year. DigiTimes said:

MSI is also prepared to sell an Nvidia Tegra 2-based model in April or May after Google releases Android 3.0 in March.

DigiTimes is a trusted source, and they are true most of the time. A few days ago, we also heard that Google will be launching Honeycomb a.k.a Android 2.4 in February. So what I think is that Google will launch the Honeycomb in February or March. Honeycomb comes with a new fresh user interface, which is especially designed for tablets. As Motorola is also announcing the Motorola Honeycomb tablet at CES 2011, so I hope Motorola will tell us when Honeycomb is actually coming. So folks, tell us what are your thoughts about Honeycomb.

Our friends our at AndroidandMe are reporting that Google will launch the Honeycomb officially in February, and the actual name of this version is Android 2.4, not 3.0. May be Google is looking forward to announce Honeycomb during the Mobile World Congress.

Also rumors are on the street that Motorola will launch the Everest tablet on February 6th. Both rumors make sense, because for the launch of Motorola tablet, the announcement of Honeycomb is necessary. As we know that Google launched the Android 2.3 with Samsung, may be they are planning to launch 2.4 with Motorola. Honeycomb features a totally changed user interface, and the UI is actually designed for tablets but not only for tablets, the OS will also run on phones.
