Motorola Corvair home automation tablet on its way !

Photographs have leaked of a Motorola Android tablet which is aimed to be a replacement for media center remote controls. The tablet which is said to come with an inbuilt IR blaster is aimed at the home automation set who might want to replace their universal remotes with an Android tablet which offers extended functionality.

The tablet is said to be equipped with a 4000 mAh  battery which will enable several days of standby time. The WiFi equipped tablet runs on Android 2.3 and can be seen mirroring the television UI on its screen. Considering the low end price point being targeted for this , we don’t expect high end specs. We’re quite interested to see how Motorola innovates on this concept as it could lead to some very interesting applications and open up a new domain for Android tablets.

Amazon’s tablet to be named Fire and showcased tomorrow?

Amazon had announced a press conference tomorrow a few days back, well we all know that Amazon is coming up with an Android based tablet which will be directly competing against the iPad, and we are sure that they are going to talk about this device and show it tomorrow in their press event, but now Techcrunch is reporting that it will be a 7? tablet which will be named Fire.

Well personally I don’t like the name, I mean naming a tablet Fire is a bit weird, anyways the so called “Fire” will be sporting a dual core TI OMAP processor, we are guessing OMAP 4430 clocked at 1.2 GHz, this processor can also be found on the Blackberry Playbook and the Motorola Droid/Milestone 3.

There is also a rumor that Amazon’s tablet will be costing around $250 will also be able to stream movies and TV as they have been talking with Fox from a long time now. Well all this is just a rumor and some of them an assumption. Let’s see what happens tomorrow.

Acer launching slider tablet this year?

Acer is a well known technology companies in the world and their desktops and laptops are famous. A few months ago, they launched few Honeycomb tablets, Acer ICONIA A100 and ICONIA A500. Now it looks like Acer is impressed by their tablets sales and planning to launch another one. DigiTimes is reporting that Acer is working on a 10-Inch tablet PC and it will feature a sliding keyboard, probably similar to ASUS EeePad Slider. As ASUS tablet comes with a full-sliding QWERTY keyboard, I am sure Acer tablet will offer the same one.

I hope Acer sliding tablet comes with an interesting design and Acer is planning to launch it later this year between October and December. It will be running on an ARM-based processor and will be manufacture by Compal. At the moment, we don’t know on which operating system it will be running on, but the possibility is that it will feature Android OS. As Windows 8 (which is Microsoft OS for tablets and others) is not out yet, so it’s possible that it will feature either Honeycomb or Ice Cream Sandwich, but as Android 4.0 is also coming later this year, so probably it might be one of the first tablets to run on Android 4.0.

Anyway, let’s wait for some official words from Acer; I am sure they will be revealing it anytime soon. So who’s looking forward to it?

DigiTimes: HTC to start Puccini tablet production in June

We recently told you that HTC is planning to launch their first ever Android 3.0 tablet soon and it will be launched by AT&T in USA. We also got some further details on it and so far the tablet looks quite amazing, it will run on a dual-core 1.5 GHz processor and will also feature HTC Scribe technology, which is liked by a lot of people who are using HTC Flyer. DigiTimes is reporting that HTC is planning to begin the volume production of HTC Puccini next month, which means that it will be launched soon. As we already know that the tablet will be compatible with HTC’s touch pen technology, the tablet display will be both resistive and capacitive. HTC is buying 10.1 inch touchscreen panels from a company to begin the production in June. It will feature Android 3.0.1 and as we saw the recent shots of its UI, which proves it that it will also feature Sense UI along with Honeycomb, which will make the experience even more amazing. As DigiTimes said that the stylus will work with specified software, so it looks like that HTC Puccini will also feature HTC Notes and maybe some new software for the stylus.

If the production is starting in June, my guess is that they will officially launch it around the holiday time. So who’s looking forward to HTC Honeycomb tablet, anyone?
