Apple’s Stunning 2012 Product Lineup [Concept Video]
I think I speak for the majority of consumer electronics fans when I say that we would all love the chance to have the financial backing of a company like Apple to be able to dream up our own product line of innovative, beautiful and outrageously expensive products. Imagine your own home full of gadgets that you have imagined, invented and then had Apple bring them to life for the world to lust over. Unfortunately, unless you are a product designing genius who gets snapped up and produces the next big thing, the chances are that dream is more than likely unreachable but designer Antonio De Rosa has produced a line of dream gadgets for Apple’s 2012 lineup.

Obviously the gadgets shown in the video below are purely fictional and in no way represent any real life products, either existing or in the pipeline but they do show off the designer’s wonderful imagination and design abilities. The first gadget to be showcased is the beautiful and sleek iBox which functions as a set top box with a touch screen interface. The iBox has a capacitive, seven inch touch screen and is designed to work as your own personal high definition television. Connecting the iBox to your existing TV would allow users to take control using touch gestures and Siri voice commands.

The next gadget in the ADR Studios lineup is the iCam which I am pretty sure a lot of photography fans would love to see. The iCam functions as a DSLR 4/3 camera with a beautiful, purpose crafted aluminum unibody and features a front and rear touch screen. The iCam would also be Siri compatible and house an LED flash as well as a pico projector making it an Apple camera with powerful functionality.

Probably the mouth watering of the range is the Apple iWatch which is designed to work harmoniously with iPhone and iPad. The watch can be connected to an iPhone or iPad to offer additional functionality and comes with a whopping 32GB of internal storage as well as the ability to beam stored media onto any surface through the use of a built in pico projector. As you may be aware, De Rosa is the designer responsible for the iPhone SJ concepts which we have seen flying around the world wide web and obviously no dream Apple range would be complete without the SJ iPhone. The new iPhone would benefit from a thinner form factor with a reduced weight, made from polycarbonate, aluminum and PK2 Kevlar which houses a fully capacitive glass touch display.
The problem that I find with concept designs like these is that it genuinely upsets me that I can’t rush out to an Apple Retail Store right now and hand my credit card over and walk away with these products. The iWatch and iBox concepts are not only beautiful in design, but offer amazing – albeit fantasy – features which any true gadget geek would salivate over. Check out the video below and see what you think about the beautiful concepts from ADR Studios.

We’re getting closer and closer to a stable Android port for the HP TouchPad – a webOS-based tablet which was discontinued less than two weeks ago. A new video has been released today which shows the HP TouchPad booting into CyanogenMod 7 which suggests that development of Android on HP TouchPad is coming along very nicely.

The source of the news is RootzWiki – an Android developer forum – which is now the home for Android-related development for the HP TouchPad: Developer dalingrin from the CyanogenMod Team posted a video of an HP TouchPad booting into the popular CyanogenMod 7 aftermarket firmware for Android.
As you can see in the video, nothing on the screen is formatted properly and even the touchscreen drivers don’t work. However, this build of CM7 is in a very alpha stage of development so these things are expected. Everything will improve as the developers continue their contributing to the project.
From the thread:
Hey Internet/RootzWiki–
Here is some (older) touchpad progress from Friday. The Cyanogenmod team wanted to share it with the public as a blatant publicity stunt to bring attention to our need for a few more touchpads (for developers currently working without them).
As you can see from this quick demo, we’ve been working hard and have made progress. Since this video was created last week, the build has been more "tabletized" (tablet tweaks added, etc.), lvm support has been added, and 2d hardware acceleration should appear very soon.
This is all a part of the TouchDroid project, initiated by a group of four developers from RootzWiki forums. The project attempts to port over Android to the HP TouchPad wherein the first objective is to get Android 2.3 “Gingerbread” to the discontinued tablet and then, when it is released, bring over Android 4.0 “Ice Cream Sandwich”. It’s an ambitious project which, if successful, would make the HP TouchPad the cheapest and fastest Android tablet!
The developers have stated that they ultimately see Android and webOS co-existing on the TouchPad wherein users will be able to choose which OS they want to boot into:
Our ultimate vision is to create a *multiboot* solution where the end user will be able to boot into WebOS, Cyanogenmod, and/or other OSes. This appears to be very possible, and we have discussed several potential implementations with our new friends in the WebOS development community to make it easy for an end-user to set up.
The team behind the CM7 build has stated that they do not have an ETA (Estimated Time of Arrival) for the port. They are working as hard as they can and will release the ROM as soon as possible.

ChatON For iPhone, Android And BlackBerry Is Samsung’s Answer To iMessage [VIDEO]
For almost as long as we’ve used mobile phones, we’ve been able to send and receive text messages, and later audio and video, through the cell network. Yet, as data packages become increasingly more common for mobile devices, sending those messages over the Internet sounds more conceivable than ever before. Samsung is the new player in this space with its ChatON messaging service.
Other companies have developed this type of service in the past; typically, they all allow text, video and picture messaging between compatible devices. RIM offers BlackBerry Messenger and iOS 5 by Apple will include iMessage, both with similar feature sets but different interfaces. Yet, they don’t support any device made by others, making it impossible for Blackberry Messenger users to communicate with Android or iPhone users, for example.
Samsung’s ChatON, on the other hand, will work with every major smartphone platform available, including iOS, Android, Blackberry OS as well as Samsung’s very own homebrew OS known as Bada. Indeed, ChatON will allow users to message each other no matter which platform they’re running, just as long as they have the client installed.
As you can tell from the demo video above, Samsung is being rather serious about ChatON and has indeed packed it with features. The most basic feature is one-to-one text chat, which behaves similarly to other chat clients on both traditional and mobile platforms. Group conversations are also easy to set up, making it easy to chat with many at once, much like what’s possible with other chat clients as well.
More than just text, users will also be able to share multimedia through a feature known as Trunk. For each conversation there’s a Trunk, which organizes all the multimedia sent throughout said conversation. It will even be possible to add comments to existing media, making interaction that much simpler. In addition to Trunk, ChatON will allow simple video animations to be created right from the device using hand drawings, text, backgrounds, images as well as a background music which is also available at the user’s disposal. This feature, which has no comparable equivalent on other clients, is known as AMS, which stands for Animation Message Service.
ChatON will be available in September in as many as 120 countries, according to Samsung itself. While not particularly innovative, this tool might help needing users cut down their SMS fees, but keep in mind that data charges apply.

[Video] Nokia N9 Revealed In Teaser Video
Last week we brought you glimpses of the Nokia N9 from the FCC database and now it is looking more and more likely that the phone is about to be revealed soon.

A teaser video showing off the N9 has just been put up by the guys at PocketNow. Not much can be gleaned from the video but the UI does seem to be very smooth and a far departure from Symbian. The camera too is a Carl Zeiss unit and not of the much criticized EDoF variety. The operating system is expected to be MeeGo though technically it is Maemo 6 with MeeGo bindings. Check out the video below.
