Research In Motion (RIM) has announced their new festive offer in India. They had announced similar festive offer for Diwali. The BlackBerry Playbook was launched in India this June and it comes in 16 GB, 32GB and 64GB variants.

The second Windows Phone device out of Nokia has now started shipping. The Nokia 710 is a lower end alternative to the Nokia 800 and packs a smaller 3.5? CBD LCD display.

Running on Windows Phone 7.5 ‘Mango’, Nokia Lumia 710 offers a 1.4GHz processor, 3.7? ClearBlack display with a resolution of 800 x 480 pixels. 5 megapixel camera with auto focus and LED flash, 720p video recording, 8GB internal memory can also be found on the device. The USP here seems to be the replaceable back panels which come in a variety of colors. Indian pricing details are yet unknown but the estimated retail price is 270 euros.

The Apple iPhone 4S was launched on both Aircel and Airtel in India today at a midnight launch ceremony. The Airtel launch was held at an upscale restaurant while Aircel decided to keep it real by holding the event at their South Extension market retail outlet. The launch events included handing over the handsets to the first pre-order customers.

You’ve already seen the plans on both the carriers. The iPhone 4S in India does not seem to have any specific tweaks made to Siri. Mapping via Siri did not work during our trials.

The Indian accent was also quite a hit or miss for the voice control service. The iPhone 4S has been priced at Rs 44,500 for the 16GB model.

RIM has launched the BlackBerry Curve 9380 and the Curve 9350 in India. The Curve 9380 is the first all-touch smartphone in the BlackBerry Curve family. It comes with 3.2-inch (480 x 360 pixels) touch screen display with 188 ppi, optical trackpad and navigation keys. The Curve 9350 is the CDMA version of the Curve 9360 that was launched in September . It has an 2.44-inch (480 × 360 pixels) touch screen display with 246 ppi and a Full QWERTY keyboard . The Curve 9380 is powered by 806 MHz processor and the Curve 9350 is powered by 800 MHz processor . The HTC Sensation XE is now available in India at a price point of Rs 34,590. The Sensation XE is a  slightly upgraded version of the Sensation already available in the market.

The device comes with in a new red-block color scheme and a matching Beats logo. The processor has been overclocked to 1.5Ghz and their proprietary Beats technology has been added to make audio sound better. PayMate, wireless transactions platform provider has developed a unique and leading NFC technology solution that enables easy display, delivery, and purchase of goods and services using NFC. They have partnered with Nokia to showcase the capabilities of NFC in the mainstream Indian markets. PayMate has recently launched Inter Bank Mobile Payment Service (IMPS) in India.

Nokia promoted the NFC technology on their new phones Nokia 700 and Nokia 701 by offering Ra.One Bollywood movie contents such as ringtones, games, wallpapers. They have also placed NFC tags with unique content across almost 1,000 Nokia outlets in the country.

Other than sharing text, images, URLs and other data, NFC also plays an important role in the mobile payment. Customers could purchase an item by simply tapping their NFC enabled device against an NFC enabled menu or a tag on an item they wish to purchase. After they receive the information about the item the customer can then choose to go ahead and select the item for purchase.

The device could be linked via PayMate to a payment mechanism such as their bank account or a prepaid account and the customer could then authorise the payment directly on to their mobile phones. This acts as a digital wallet, thus eliminating the need to carry cash and credit cards.

Nokia India just sent us an invite for a launch event on Nov 14th. The invite talks about Amazing New Experiences. We are betting this is the India launch of the Windows Phone devices.  Nokia announced the Lumia 800 and Lumia 710 devices at Nokia World 2011 last month where the company promised to bring these devices to India before the end of the year. The Lumia 710 would be coming first followed by the Lumia 800 from what we have learnt. Interestingly both these devices use a microSIM card  like the iPhone 4 , 4s and Nokia N9. Would be interesting to see how operators address this issue. Pricing wise the Lumia 710 is expected to be cheaper than the 800 and the stated pricing is 270 euros and the device can come at around Rs.20,000

Motorola Defy+ that is the successor of the Motorola Defy is now available in India. The phone was announced this August and it features 3.7 inch (480 x 854 pixels) display and is Water and scratch resistant and dustproof. It is powered by 1GHz processor and runs on Android 2.3 (Gingerbread). It comes with a 5 MP camera with LED/Supercap flash with video recording at 30 fps. It is 13.4 mm thick and weighs 118 g.

Other features include 3.5mm audio jack, FM radio, Mulit-format audio and video player (MP3, MPEG-4, H.264, AMR NB, WMA v9) that can playback videos up to 30 fps. RIM announced it’s latest handsets under the Curve range last month and we knew that these were on it’s way to India. Today in Delhi , the company announced the handset the availability of the Curve 9360 in India.  The  Curve 9360 will come with a price tag of Rs.19990

The features of the Curve 9360 include a 5 MP Camera ,  2.44 inch display, BlackBerry 7 OS, microSD card slot, Bluetooth , WiFi and support for 3G/HSDPA networks and a full QWERTY keyboard. RIM has tied up with Airtel to offer a free trial of a BlackBerry plan for a period of 2 months along with the handset.

Surprisingly the Curve 9360 supports NFC which is also present on the more expensive Bold 9900. It is powered by a 800 MHz processor and a 1000 mAh battery. Anyone thinking of picking up the new Curve ?

Nokia has launched the new Symbian Belle smartphones, Nokia 600, Nokia 700 and Nokia 701 in India. These phones were announced last month in Hong Kong, and they come with single-tap NFC pairing and sharing capabilities, 1 Ghz processor and 512 MB RAM. The Nokia 600 has powerful loudspeaker with the audio output of 106 phon and FM transmitter and FM receiver. The Nokia 700 is the thinnest Nokia smartphone which is just 9.7mm thick. The Nokia 701 features the brightest display on any smartphone,2 Microphones for stereo audio recording. All these phones come with common connectivity options include 3G, Wi-Fi, NFC, Bluetooth 3.0, USB OTG support and A-GPS.

RIM has launched the BlackBerry Torch 9860 in India. The BlackBerry Torch 9860 is a full touch BlackBerry smartphone running the OS 7 and powered by a 1.2 GHz Processor. It has 3.7 inch screen LCD display with Liquid Graphics and 253 ppi. RIM has already launched 2 BB OS 7 phones, BlackBerry Bold 9900 and BlackBerry Torch 9810 in India.

The BlackBerry Torch 9860 has 3.7 inch 24-bit capacitive touch screen display with 253 ppi and a 5MP camera with Continuous auto focus, Flash and 720p HD video recording and a 1.2 GHz Processor. RIM is launching yet another BlackBerry smartphone in India tomorrow going by the invite we have received. Our bets are on the  Torch 9860 (BlackBerry Storm 3) which was unveiled few weeks back . The phone is expected to hit stores at around Rs.29500 within the next few days according to our sources.The 9860 is a full touch BlackBerry running the OS 7 and powered by a 1.2 GHz Processor.The Storm had a SurePress keyboard which drew a lot of criticism and the company has done away with even the Storm name and adopted the Torch branding. The Torch 9810 and Bold 9900 are already available in India.  The 9860 has already been launched in many countries in the Middle East.

UPDATE: BGR.in is was hinting at the Curve 9360 and now they are hinting at the Torch 9860 as well.  Our sources say that Torch 9860 might be available as soon as this Friday. Flipkart announced the price of the phone last week but it was not available for pre-order. Now the Xperia ray is available from the online retail store LetsBuy.
