Vodafone launches ‘START STOP’ service for easier VAS management

Vodafone has launched new ‘START STOP’ service for making VAS (Value Added Services) management easy. This would let customers subscribe to popular VAS products just by messaging START, and STOP for deactivating the service from collection of Value Added Services including, Astro & Devotional, Music & Movies, Entertainment, Info & Utilities and Sports.
To activate, customers can SMS START to 321 to receive a list of content categories and reply with the category number to get the list of services. Customers can then reply with the selected service number to send activation request. To deactivate, customers can SMS STOP to 321 to receive a list of currently active services and reply with the selected service number to send deactivation request.
This service is available across all Vodafone circles in India.

Vodafone launches voice based service directory 123 to get information about VAS

Vodafone India has launched new voice based service directory 123, new voice based service that lets you browse through information on various Value Added Services (VAS) by Vodafone. Customers can dial 123 (toll-free) to get information and enjoy easy activation for a range of Value added services to suit their needs.
This service offers information about news, job alerts, astrology reports, Sports, Music, recipes, filmy gossip and more. This offers the customers all the information they need in a single number (123) by keeping them updated with their latest offerings.
They have also rolled out a fresh ad campaign featuring Irfan Khan and Prakash Raj that explains how 123 will empower customers experience products and services that will help them do much more than just talk on mobile phone!

Tata Indicom merged into Tata Docomo Brand , Photon Max Rev-B CDMA service launched

Tata Tele Services the company behind the Tata Indicom CDMA service and that Tata Docomo GSM service announced today it is getting rid of the Tata Indicom brand and merging it with the Tata Docomo brand. All Tata Indicom customers will be migrated to Tata DOCOMO. The company announced the Photon Max service which is based on Rev-B CDMA technology which promises higher speeds compared to the company’s Photon service.
Photon Max is being launched with 2 schemes.In the first offer , you pay Rs 1,999 for the dongle and Rs 750 every month and get 1.5 GB of data usage . In the second offer, you pay Rs 3,999 for the dongle and get 1 GB of data usage per month free for five months. In both offers additional data usage is billed at 50 paisa per MB. Photon Max will be initially available in Mumbai, Kolkata, Delhi, Hyderabad and Chennai.

Samsung to launch ChatON mobile messaging service

Samsung has announced that they would launch their own Instant Messaging (IM) service, ChatON soon. This would allow the users communicate easily and share videos, pictures, calendar and contacts with others from their mobile phone.
The ChatON IM service would allow users to chat using their phone numbers, send voice messages and take part in group chat. There are also features like interaction rank, that lists people who you chat often, trunk, that shows all the images and videos shared so that you can comment on them and animation message that lets you make personal message using hand written notes, images, text and background music.
The ChatON app would come pre-installed in the upcoming Samsung feature phones, bada phones and Galaxy smartphones. The app would also be launched for iPhone and BlackBerry phones in future, that would compete with the upcoming Apple’s iMessage and BlackBerry Messenger (BBM). The app would also be available for PC.
The ChatON IM service will be showcased at IFA 2011 in September and it would be launched in October in more than 120 countries around the world and would support up to 62 languages.
Tata DOCOMO launches SMS based VAS service – Video News Alerts

Tata DOCOMO has launched new Value Added Service (VAS service) called Video News Alert in partnership with business channel group Network 18. This would let the users to know the latest news around the world in the form of video clip that could be streamed and also downloaded by both 2G & 3G subscribers. The customers can also search and view news stories, like it, participate in polls and also share their opinion.
To subscribe to this service customers need to SMS VIDEO NEWS to 53333 (Toll Free) or Via IVR by Dialing 155223, after that they would receive confirmation. They would receive 3 video alerts per day in the form of WAP links that could be used to stream or download the video. To unsubscribe SMS ‘UNSUB VIDEONEWS‘ to 53333.
This VAS service would work on all WAP enabled mobile phones. There are no charges to subscribe or use this service, however data charge of 10kb/10p would be charged for viewing or downloading videos.
Vodafone introduces Audio Conferencing service for business customers

Vodafone has introduced audio conferencing service for the business customers, so that they could connect to multiple contacts easily through a phone call from a mobile phone or land-line. There are also several range of audio conferencing services to choose from, according to their business needs.
This is a reservation less service, so that there is no need of relying on an operator and it is also automated, so that you could make a reservation through phone or email to schedule the conference with the conference pass code and share the code to other participants.
The operator assistance are also offered, so that they notify the participants before the conference begins and can also screen the number of participants with a list provided.

Reliance Communications launches its 3G service in Delhi, Mumbai and Kolkata and Chandigarh
RCom aka Reliance Communication launched its 3G services in four of its major circles such as Delhi, Mumbai and Kolkata and Chandigarh. RCom is the first private operator to launch 3G in 3 metro cities. RCom says that their 3G network capable of achieving download speeds of upto 28Mbps.

BSNL 3G Service Now Available for Apple iPod ? Bummer !

Believe it or not BSNL has tied up with Apple to offer a special 3G service for the Apple iPod.
Neither does the iPod have a 3G feature nor do we buy the idea of Apple tying up with BSNL. It’s just baseless misinformation. Normally we have blogs accused of spreading wrong information. But now we have several top publications carrying this hilarious story on the front page of their websites.
